Is it time to have a meeting? If so, where and when? The next EMS Conference is the Eastern EMS Council Conference in the Poconos October 23-25. That may be too far for some folks but its a nice place to go. Thoughts? If not there, maybe somewhere mid state, in late October or early Nov.?
I do think we need to have a meeting to discuss the bylaws, make any revisions, and vote to adopt the final draft. We then need to nominate folks for the BOD. Perhaps we can hold the election on-line using some free software app.
I will be leaving for China next Tuesday, returning Sept. 20. I will work on nonprofit status, and getting a post office box and get details on forming the 501 (c) 3 after I return from China. I think we need to be a “real” organization before we can set up the 501 (c) 3.
I am set and ready! I am available that Saturday if that works for others.
As far as the P.O. Box, I would hold off until we have a Secretary who can then get a P.O., what does everyone else think?

I’m not up for a drive to Eastern PA, could we find a host in Penn State maybe? I think once I looked at that location an it was no more that 2.5 hours for just about everyone.
not to try to convince everyone of my idea but a friend of mine runs and EMS class at Centre Lifelink, she’s willing to try and use the facility.

I agree with jlightner, the State College area is most appealing.
As far as a date, I cannot make 10/31 – I’m scheduled to work on the trucks that day.
In the other blog about the Meeting I think that maybe the first meeting where we establish ourselves, bylaws and a BoD could be most effectively done via a teleconference. Our work schedules and a location of convience for the greatest number for this to be effective seem to be our stumbling block.
Teleconferencing is really only good for small groups and, in my experience, only of limited value, particularly if we have to vote on various issues.
We can achieve much of the same communication via the Google group. Every group member gets the messages and can easily reply to them. It provides a means to communicate that is independent of schedules as well as of time and place limitations.
There are several benefits related to an initial face-to-face meeting; we can see who is actually committed to participate, we can get to know each other better and faster, there is a lesser change for misunderstanding and more depth in communicating in person.
So, if you haven’t already, please join the Google group. The Florida folks told me it is their best tool for maintaining links and communicating amongst the members of the EMS Educators of Florida.
