I set up this site to help facilitate the development of an EMS instructors group; The EMS Educators of Pennsylvania (EMSEPA).

I’m about to head out to the Pennsylvania State EMS conference near Harrisburg. I hope to stimulate some thought while I’m there and inspire folks, particularly folks who are currently certified and active EMS instructors, to make the choice to participate.

There are many changes coming our way. The National Standard Curricula will be replaced by National Education Standards. The new PA EMS enabling legislation passed the state Senate and hopefully will be signed by the Governor very soon. Once the act is passed, the next step is developing the rules and regulations. EMS educators should participate in the process. I feel strongly that a representative of 4500 certified instructors will carry more weight than any single individual.

Its time for us to take responsibility to move EMS education forward in the Commonwealth. Together we can help each other be better at what we do. Together we can ensure that our graduates are competent, qualified, and ready to provide the services the public expects of EMS practitioners.
